Meet the Human Behind the Voice

I’m Buster Cox — a professional voice talent, video producer and editor who spends most of his working life explaining technology. My voice is the human source behind the longtime ElevenLabs voice known as Eric (cjVigY5qzO86Huf0OWal), and behind the Professional Voice Clone now shared on ElevenLabs as Buster.
That means I sit on both sides of this subject: I record the source audio, and I also write, edit and publish video where an AI voice has to carry the information. I have heard my own voice used well, and used badly, across a lot of content.

Why this site exists
Most advice about AI voices is either a ranked list with no reasoning behind it, or a sales page for one voice. Neither helps someone with a real project and a real script. What actually helps is a framework: decide the register, the pace, the age and the tone your project needs, then audition honestly against those requirements.
The connection to Eric
Eric was listed for a long time as “Eric — Smooth, Trustworthy”. Those recordings are mine. Buster is a new Professional Voice Clone from the same voice, with a different voice ID. The full explanation is here, including both IDs for identification.
